James Robert Mowrer (Bobby), 89, of Austin, Arkansas, passed away March 11, 2024, in Beebe, Arkansas at the Beebe Retirement Center. James was born August 15, 1934 to Curtis Dewey Mowrer and Icis Katherine Mowrer, née Heath, of Carlisle, Arkansas.
He was employed with Joe Hogan Fish Hatchery (part of AGFC) in Lonoke for thirty one years and retired December of 1987. When he wasn’t working, James was an avid outdoorsman, spending his free time hunting and fishing, making fishing nets, as well as gardening and cooking.
James married Wanda Louise Bryant on November 24, 1953. He was a kind and caring father to his children, and they could not have asked for a better father. He spent every night reading the bible and always encouraged his children to pray out loud. James attended New Testament Baptist Church where he was one of the first and the longest serving deacons. He was a faithful member of his church, and if the doors were open he was there!
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Louise; son, James Mowrer, Jr.; daughter, Sharon High; great granddaughter, Olivia Williams; brothers, Ellis and Calvin Mowrer; sisters, Dorothea Pearson, Edith Cornet and Alice Hensley.
James is survived by his son, Jeff (Earline) Mowrer of Lonoke, daughters, Brenda (Dean) Williams of Cabot, and Elizabeth (Tony) Campbell of Conway, son-in-law, Richard High of Lonoke; grandchildren, Ricky (Candice) High of Lonoke, Teresa Butler of Lonoke, Josh (Jennifer) Mowrer of Lonoke, Craig (Casey) Williams of Fort Smith, Nikki (James)McPhail of Conway, Cody (Jaleasia) Campbell of Vilonia, Kevin Williams of Cabot, Mark (Rachel) Williams of Alexander, Kelsey Campbell of Conway, Michael (Tiffany) Campbell, Alex Campbell of Searcy; great grandchildren, Brooke ,Skye, Jackson, Dixie, Josh, Lillian, Tyler, Ryan, Adeline, August, Lincoln, Skylar, Payton, along with one great great granddaughter on the way.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Elite Hospice and Beebe Retirement Home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2024, at New Testament Baptist Church in Lonoke, visitation will start one hour prior to the service.
