BRISTOL- It is with profound sadness that the family of James Murray, age 77 of Bristol formerly of Waterbury, share the news of his peaceful passing in the comfort of his home on Monday, October 14, 2024 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Alice (Graham) Murray for 51 wonderful years.
James was born on June 14, 1947 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Paul and Margaret (O’loughlin) Murray. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and High School and attended Mattatuck Community College where he was a member of one of the first fraternities. James’ career began and ended with Pratt and Whitney as a Quality Control Inspector for 38 years. He was a parishioner for over 30 years at St. Margaret Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and lector. He was a volunteer for the school’s bingo games and was one of the first “lunch dads”. James also was a CYO mentor, an avid pool player over the years belonging to many leagues, and he could often be found playing a round of golf. However, the true light of Jame’s life was his family, whom he adored and cherished more than anything. James will be missed by all those who are blessed to love and know him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife Mary Alice, is his beloved daughter Meghan Burnett and her husband Todd. James and Mary Alice were blessed with 4 grandchildren; Julia, Emerson, Colin, and Erin. James also leaves his brother Paul, brother-in-law Tim Graham, sister in laws, Doreen, Kathy, and Maria, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He also leaves his constant and loyal companion, Rory his Chihuahua. James was predeceased by his son Ryan, brother Richard and in laws John and Betty Graham.
The Murray family would like to thank Dr. Edmund Quinn, Bristol Hospital and Bristol Hospice for the care and compassion they provided to Mr. Murray and his family.
