James Musacchio Obituary
Music was an important part of James' life. From early High School playing in the band and singing in the choir to preparing to become a music teacher at Montclair State College, he always seemed to know the direction his life should take. Along the way, James met and made friends with many people, some of whom remained close for well over 70 years.
James taught music at every level and discipline for 40 years in the Berkeley Heights, NJ school system. His career spanned so many years that he enjoyed the delight of teaching the children of his students, as well as teaching alongside former students. In addition, he worked as a church choir director at First Presbyterian Church, Rahway, NJ, for 17 years and 31 years at Wilson Memorial Union Church, Watchung, NJ.
It was at First Presbyterian Church where he met the young woman he would come to adore. Carolyn Mae (nee Powley) and Jame married in 1981 and made a beautiful life together along with their amazing sons, Bill (Christine) and Dan (Rosemary); first in North Plainfield, NJ, then Bridgewater, NJ, and finally Williams Township, PA in retirement.
To his delight, Bill and Christine blessed the family with two beautiful granddaughters, Giuliana and Sophia, who brought him immense joy.
James was known to say that he was living the life he had hoped for as a young person. He made and kept wonderful friends, was able to make music, and shared his love of music throughout his career. He had a family he cherished beyond all else.
If he could, he would tell you today that he truly had a wonderful life.

A memorial service will be held at Wilson Memorial Union Church located at 7 Valley Road Watchung, NJ 07069 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Wilson Memorial Union Church.
