HANOVERTON - James Clifford Myers, 88, a more than 60-year resident of Hanoverton, Ohio, died at his nephew's home, Dennis and Rhonda Reed of Robertsville, Ohio, while in hospice care on June 1, 2025.
He was born on March 29, 1937, in Kensington, Ohio, the son of the late Harry B. Myers and Margaret A. (Longanecker) Myers. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Minerva High School.
Jim worked for Bill Eckman of Hanoverton, was mayor of Hanoverton for six years, Hanoverton councilman for 20 years and was TRW/PCC of Minerva. He enjoyed early retirement and traveled with his wife for many years. He also enjoyed coaching United Little League football.
Jim enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Guardians. He was a 60 plus years member of the Grand Lodge in Hanoverton and Carrolton, holding positions of District Deputy Masonic District, Master Mason Lodge and District Associate President. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and past Patron of Order of Eastern Stars.
He was a faithful member of Hanoverton Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, also serving as a deacon.
Jim is survived by sister and close friend, Patricia Myers of Hanoverton; sister, Marcia Reed of East Canton; and brother, John Myers of Minerva. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Francis "Carole" Myers, whom he married January 31, 1959, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, celebrating more than 56 years of marriage; his beloved son, James "Ed" Myers of Guilford Lake; brothers, Robert Myers of Stow, Ohio, Harry Myers Jr. of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, Jack Myers of Minerva, Ohio and George Myers of Eaton, Ohio; sisters, Helen Schmidt of Sebring, Copeland Oaks, Betty Marietta of Hanoverton, Ohio, Mary Myers of Blossom Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Hanoverton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tom Allmon officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will take place at Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanoverton.
The family of Jim Myers would like to express their heartfelt thankfulness to their family physician Dr. Joseph Rousher, Blossom Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the Grace Hospice care team for the care provided to Jim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Hanoverton Presbyterian Church, PO Box 127, Hanoverton, Ohio 44423.
