James Nielsen passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. He was born on February 16, 1936, to James Darwin and Stella Luella Chandler Nielsen in Castle Gate, Utah.
He married Carol Fish in 1961 in the Mesa Temple in Mesa, Arizona. She passed away in 2018. They were married for 56 years.
James is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served a mission in Central America. He loved teaching the gospel to others in the Spanish language. He served as a Bishop, Organist, and in the Boy Scout Program. He impacted many lives in his service to others.
He worked in construction as a welder where his job took him to many locations to work on projects around the state. He fulfilled a dream when he started Nielsen's Ace Hardware in St. George, UT and had a strong work ethic in all he did.
James enjoyed reading, camping with his family, working on computers, gardening, and working with his hands. He always had a project going. He played the piano and the organ. He loved music and loved to sing. He was a good leader and example and was always a good provider for his family. He had a kind heart and loved his family.
James is survived by his children: Colleen Stucki, Cynthia Bell (Bruce), James Delyle Nielsen, Jr., Steven Reid Nielsen (Sharon), Janette Sandra (Patrick), David Floyd Nielsen (Cheryl), Debra Bradford, Glen Arthur Nielsen (Nathalie); siblings: Terry Nielsen (Barbara) and Esta Atkins (John), and Sandra Poulter; 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Stella Nielsen; wife: Carol (Fish) Nielsen; siblings: Laurence Nielsen and Clifford Nielsen.
The family will honor his life on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. with Graveside Service at the Deweyville Cemetery, Deweyville, UT.
