James Oliver Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
James "Jim" Lee Oliver, 78, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Born on June 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Ozie and Maudie (Chukes) Oliver. Jim was born and raised in Quincy, FL before relocating to Connecticut, where he graduated from Weaver High School and lived for the remainder of his life.
Jim worked various labor positions throughout his early years, including time with the U.S. Post Office and Pratt & Whitney. He was a gifted artist who expressed himself through drawing, carving, and figuring out how technologies work. He also enjoyed computer games, especially flight simulation.
Jim is survived by his sisters Nellie Oliver and Grace Oliver, both of Hartford, and Mary Oliver-Benoit and her husband Eric of Windsor. He also leaves behind many nieces and a nephew, including his niece and caregiver, Shelly Andrews Porter, who supported him with love and dedication. He was predeceased by his parents Ozie and Maudie Oliver, his sister Gloria Oliver, and his brothers Roy Oliver, Ozia Oliver Jr., and Ray Tony Oliver.
A graveside service will be held as Jim's ashes will rest with his father at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, honoring his life and the family who shaped it.
We will post the date for grave services at a later date.
