James "Jim" Russell Packard, age 88 of Prescott, WI. Died November 19, 2024 at St. Therese's Senior Living in Woodbury, MN. Formerly of South Minneapolis and St. Paul. Jim attended DeLaSalle High School graduating with the class of 1954. He furthered his education at St. John's University, Collegeville ('58), and Iowa State University. Jim had a long and prosperous 31-year career as a 3M scientist that he enjoyed immensely. On August 9, 1958, James married the love of his life, Mary Hadley. This union blessed them with six children.
Jim volunteered many hours with church and school activities at St. Pascal Baylon Church, St. Paul, and St. Joseph Parish, Prescott, and especially as a math tutor after retirement, and as a "3M Wizard" at St. Joseph Parish School. Jim was also extremely proud of his family and loved them all dearly.
Preceded in death by parents Carine and Rollin Packard, loving wife Mary Margaret (nee Hadley) of 54 years, sister Sharon (David) Jasper, brother Robert (Watertown, SD) (Sally, Minneapolis), and by brother Thomas (Joy), Somerset, WI., survived by 6 honorable, loving children and spouses: Steve (Donna), Anne (Larry) Spicer, John (Catherine), Peggy (Bob) Mock, Joseph (Brooke), Dave (Denise), 16 wonderful, loving grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Packard Memorial Scholarship, St. Joseph Parish School, 269 Dakota St. S, Prescott WI, 54021, or any charity of donor's choice.
A Visitation will be on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4:30pm -7:00pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church: 269 Dakota St. S, Prescott, WI 540221. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the church. A visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Minneapolis.
