James Edgar Parker

James Edgar Parker was born to Victor Jr. and Idelia Ballard Parker on October 23, 1945, at Northampton Hospital in Nassawadox, Virginia. He departed from this world peacefully at home on January 2, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.
James began his education in a little schoolhouse in Painter, VA. After moving to New York, he continued his elementary education in the Yonkers Public School System and then graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. After high school, James joined the United States Marine Corps in 1964. He completed one tour in Vietnam and obtained the rank of Sergeant.
To better care for his family, James joined the Department of Public Safety in Westchester County, NY, as a Patrol Officer and continued his education by receiving an Associate's Degree from Westchester Community College. James was then able to rise to the rank of Police Detective and retired after twenty-three and a half years of service.
James was a hardworking man who loved his family. In his spare time, he could be found working side jobs constructing houses or helping his uncles with their home improvements.
James was a quick learner and became everyone's go-to guy when it came to carpentry, automotive repair, or plumbing work. There was not a time he would not agree to help; whether he had to go across town or to another state, we could always count on James to be there.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Jr. and Idelia; daughter, Heather; son, John; brother, Darryl; and sister, Adelaide.
Left to cherish his memory are eight children: LaShonda (Rachel), Trevor, Trace (John), Jimmie, Jayme, Damon (Sakshi), Terrill (Tanya), and Travon; one daughter in-law, Carmen; fifteen grandchildren: Morgan, Alisha, Bryce, Zoe, Saniyah, Trevor, Jr., Jaylen, Terrell, Jr., Taliyah, Jade, Travon, Jr., Sydney, Jay, Journee, and Josiah; one great-grandson: Alyiss; a brother, Victor (Gale); a sister, Hyla (Claudia); and an aunt, Cora, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
