JAMES ELWOOD PAULS(FOXY) beloved husband, father, and grandfather departed this life on October 2, 2025. He was born to the late Margaret Williams and Walter Pauls, Jr. on March 26, 1935. He was 90 years old. In 1953, he was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Dorothy Elizabeth Gaines.
He attended Kennard High School and was instrumental in assisting with the restoration efforts at the historically black high school. He and his wife gave savings bonds to students for Black History Month essays at Kennard Elementary for many years. He is a member of Bryant's United Methodist Church and attended weekly service while his health permitted it.
James had a proclivity for hard work. He worked for Queen Anne's County Board of Education as an independent school bus contractor for 25 years. In 1976 he opened Pauls' Tire Service on Dulin Clark Road in Centreville. For many years, his grandson Clarence worked with him. He managed this reputable business for over 45 years and received many awards and accolades including a citation from Governor Wes Moore, Superintendent Webb, Centreville National Bank, Maryland Farm Bureau, Kennard Heritage Center, Grasonville Elementary, Bryan's Methodist and Bethel A.M.E Churches.
He lives to mourn his beloved wife, Dorothy, daughters Sharon,(Dave) Janet, grandson Clarence, and great grandson, Kyrie. Also, brothers Walter( Willie), William(Geraldine), and Larry ( Mary),and sisters Shirley, Gloria, and Terri ( Kevin). One deceased sister (Teresa) a special cousin, Randy Adkins and many other relatives and friends.
John 4:11 "Dear friend, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." Pop's swan song was, "I love everyone!" He will be missed dearly.
