James Peebles, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 17, 1937, in Jacksonville, Florida he spent his later years in Hiawassee, Georgia, where he was known for his warm spirit and dedication to family and friends. He faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, James was an aircraft engine mechanic.
James is survived by his loving wife, Alyce Faye Peebles, and his cherished daughters, Candy Gray and Rebecca Peebles. He also leaves behind a wonderful daughter-in-law, Sheryl Woodrum, and his 12 adored grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life.
James was preceded in death by his father, Spencer Carter Peebles; mother, Teresa Bolin Peebles; and sons John Keith Woodrum, Scott Dean Woodrum, and Vernon Dale Peebles.
A passionate member of the Masonic Lodge and a dedicated Shriner, James embodied the values of service and community. He was an avid fan of NASCAR Racing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children to honor James's legacy of commitment to helping others.
