James Henry "Jim" Phelan Age 80
Beloved and devoted husband of Barbara Phelan (nee McGreal) for 57 years.
Loving father of James, Julie (Donal) Barry and David (Bernadette) Phelan.
Dear grandfather of Mary Grace, Emily, Abageal, Brian, Liam, Samuel, Jace, Kyra and Teagan.
Preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Loretta Phelan and his brothers Joseph and Maurice.
He leaves behind his sister Mary and brothers William, Patrick and Richard.
Jim was most proud of his Leo and Loyola education; his CPA firm Phelan, Johnson and McGreal; being a Marine reservist, and a wide variety of jobs including Internal Revenue agent. Being born in Chicago, Jim loved Chicago teams particularly the White Sox and Chicago Bears. Jim always said "No Regrets". His childhood in Chicago was colorful with stories that were often repeated. We all knew the Schwinn bike story and the rat story. He loved the slots, sports games, wine and grouper. He loved life. Jim and his wife Barbara met at Friday night St. Kilian's Hi Club. Barb was 15 years old and a sophomore and Jim was 17 years old and a senior. They had a beautiful life blessed with 3 children and 9 grandchildren.
