James S Phelps, 53 of Topeka, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 18, 2025 at his home.
He was born on September 4, 1971 to Steven Phelps and Betty Barngrover in Topeka.
Jamie graduated from Topeka High School in 1991.
He was self-employed throughout his career. He performed a variety of jobs from plumbing to maintaining properties throughout Topeka. He took pride in his work. Jamie was always willing to give a helping hand to everyone.
Jamie enjoyed the outdoors, he loved fishing. He has been fishing since he was old enough to hold a pole. His grandpa Charlie was always taking him fishing. They would go night fishing at Shawnee lake throughout the years.
He loved spending time with his dad Steve. That time was meaningful and impacted others. Jamie would have his dad over on the weekends. They did everything together from doing projects at the house to going fishing.
Then there was his dog Maggie, he would take her to the lake at the crack of dawn every morning for her daily walks and sniffs. They both enjoyed the atmosphere at the lake. This is how they would start their day.
Jamie is survived by his father Steve, his brother Chris and wife Darcie, brother Brandon, sisters Jenny, Melissa, and Brandy. Aunt DeAun and husband Bob. He will always cherish his children Brendan and wife Whitney, Brooklyn and husband Christian, Miriah and husband Alex. He has 8 grandchildren Riley, Harrison, Madelyn, Aenya, Kalliope, Kyran, Juniper and Meridius.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty, and his son Zeby.
Jamie's Graveside Services will be on Wednesday June 11, 2025 at 1pm at Historical Topeka Cemetery, 1601 SE 10 ST On the Southeast side of the cemetery.
Celebration of Life will be on Saturday June 14, 2025 at 11am-3pm. Shawnee Lake Shelter House #5, 3225 SE Tin Man Circle, Topeka
