Honoring the Memory of James Everett Pickett

James Everett Pickett, age 70, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at Heart of Hospice. He was born on December 1, 1954, in Bakersfield, California, to Denver Leon Pickett and Betty Lou (Holland) Pickett. On August 16, 1972, James married the love of his life, Mattie Jane, with whom he shared more than 50 years of devotion until her passing. Together they raised a beautiful family built on love, hard work, and faith. James was a graduate of high school and dedicated much of his career to St. Claire Lime in Marble City, Oklahoma. A man of many talents, James especially enjoyed woodworking and crafts, creating lasting pieces with his hands that reflected his patience and creativity. He will be remembered most as a hard-working, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.

James is survived by his four sons: Christopher and April Pickett, Benjamin and Danielle Pickett, Chad and Nikki Pickett, and Michael and Nicole Pickett. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Chastity, Kristyn, Tony, Aden, Dylan, Jax, Nadina, Emma, Madison, Aden, Kaytlin, and Gavin; and 7 great-grandchildren: Dex, Lillie, Octayvia, Onyx, Grayson, Gohan, and Adriel. He is also survived by his siblings: Jean, Harvey, Alta, Terry, Larry, Connie, Kenny, and Denver, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mattie Jane Pickett; his sister, Sandra Mason; and both of his parents.

A celebration of James' life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice for their care and support during his final days. Cremation is under the thoughtful care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
