Honoring the Journey of Rick Motes

Richard "Rick" Motes, age 72, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with his loving son by his side. He was born on May 29, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, to James Motes, Sr. and Louise (Wilhem) Motes. Rick dedicated over 30 years of his life to the trucking industry, building a career he was proud of.

He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Chicago Bears and the Cubs. Beyond sports, Rick loved to travel, enjoyed Nascar, playing poker, two-step dancing, and admired the legendary cowboy, John Wayne. He had a great sense of humor, a passion for music, and a deep love for life.

Rick was a devoted father and grandfather, fiercely loyal to his children and grandchildren. Though he and Diane were married for twenty years and later divorced, he remained a cherished part of her life and family.

He is survived by his beloved children, Richy Motes, Natasha Pitts, Jamie Homing, and Jay Motes; grandchildren Joey, Jacob, Jessica, Brittany, Dalton, Warren, Braxton, Chandler, Peighton, Addisyn, Cody, Jacob, Kinley, Karter, Koen, Karleigh, Haileigh, Hayden, Hendrix, Halena, Reid, and Lincoln; as well as several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children Ashlyn Motes and Tracy Motes; grandchildren Jonsi and Axl; and siblings Betty Linda, Peggy, Shirley, Carol, and Geraldine.

In accordance with Rick's wishes, no services will be held. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Cremation is under the thoughtful care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
