Popp, James L.
Hemlock, Michigan
Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at home. Age 49 years. Jim was born on April Fool's Day, 1975, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to John and Kathleen (Roeske) Popp, and grew up in the Saginaw area from the age of two. He was baptized into the Christian Faith at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he also attended grade school. Jim attended Valley Lutheran High School in 9th and 10th grade and then graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1993. Jim was married to Carrie McIntosh on June 25, 2016. She survives him. They shared their lives and blended family for over 10 years. Jim started his career in construction, and the past three years he was the owner-operator of Dirty Side Down, LLC. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing, especially with little RJ. "Papa" and RJ were best buddies. If family or friends needed his help, Jim would be there. His most precious gift was his ability to make us all laugh and smile. He had a great laugh.
Surviving besides his wife, Carrie, are his children, Abigail, Madison, Mason, Raquel (Robert), and Alex; grandson, RJ; brother, Kenneth L. Roeske; is his mother, Kathleen J. Roeske and father, John E. Popp; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Diana and Dewy Holly; Harvey "Jim" McIntosh, and a host of family whom he loved beyond measure; friends, Ryan, Dave, Nate, Zach, John, Dan, and Pam "Ma"; mothers of his children, Danielle Fender and Justine Zatkovic.
Funeral service will take place 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. 1218 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Kurt Brandon will officiate. Cremation will follow. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. Memories and sympathies of Jim may be shared with the family on his memorial website at WakemanFuneralHome.com
