Beloved father, grandfather, "papa", great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Covenant Medical Center. Age 70 years. Rosendo was born on August 7, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Rosendo Alaniz, Sr. and Eva (Bernal) Alaniz. Rosendo served in the US Marine Corps. He was employed at High-Tech Steel Treating for over 20 years, retiring in 2023. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi. Rosendo was an artist at heart he enjoyed painting & drawing in his younger years and had a lifelong passion for music, playing his guitar along with other musical instruments like the drums, bongos and harmonica. Rosendo also enjoyed fishing & hunting with his son, as well as refurbishing and gunsmithing. Rosendo Jr. worked in the oil fields in Texas. He also worked many years with Trevino Heating and Plumbing and was also skilled in carpentry. Surviving is his mother, Eva B. Alaniz; one son, Rosendo D. (Annie) Alaniz; two daughters, Rina (Walter) Stroik, and Patricia (David) Medina; eight grandchildren, Sage (Shannon) Jackson, Soren Stroik, Talia Alaniz, Mariah Rodriguez, Danielle Medina, Lucia Medina, Gabriella Alaniz and Benicio Alaniz; two great-grandchildren, Sloane Jackson and Mila Rodriguez; siblings Rueben (Ana) Alaniz, Rene (Kim) Alaniz, Rosalinda (Chris) Ascencio, Reynaldo Alaniz, Gilbert "Bobby" Alaniz; lifelong friend, Raul Trevino; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Rosendo (Sonny) Alaniz, his father, Rosendo Alaniz Sr, sister Velia and brother-in-law, Rolland Murray, and brother Raymond Bird. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. Tori Little from Catholic Ministries will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the US Marine Corps and VFW Post 1859. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and then on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org. Memories and sympathies of Rosendo may be shared with the family on his memorial website at WakemanFuneralHome.com
