James A. Quinn, age 86, of Cinnaminson, NJ, formerly of Washington Township, NJ, passed suddenly on Friday, May 10, 2024.
James was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA to the late Mary & Edward Quinn, and graduated from Southeast Catholic High School. Jim went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, during a leave home, he met his future wife, Theresa (Terry) E. (nee' Marraffa), and they were married in 1960. Jim and Terry settled in Delaware County, PA for a number of years before moving their family to Washington Township, NJ in 1969, where they resided for 50 years until they relocated to Cinnaminson, NJ.
Jim spent his career as a Facilities Manager and was meticulous in his work. He was a devout Catholic and had been an active member and volunteer at Saint Charles Borromeo Church since moving to Cinnaminson. Jim was a loyal Eagles fan. Jim was also an active volunteer and supporter of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Archbishop Damiano St. John of God School in Westville Grove, NJ. Jim would spend much of his time buying school supplies and backpacks which he donated to St. John of God School to provide the students with new items to start each school year. He also purchased toys to donate to children in need each year for the Christmas Holiday, and he regularly purchased food items to donate to local food pantries to help those in need. Jim was very humble in his efforts to support those less fortunate and in need; he came from very modest beginnings and, while he was proud of his efforts to support others, he never sought attention or recognition for his acts of kindness. Jim's family will continue his efforts to provide for those who need support in his honor.
A devoted family man, James is survived by his beloved wife of 63+ years, Theresa E. Quinn (nee' Marraffa), their loving children, Eileen Maloney and her husband Michael Maloney, Jim Quinn, and his dear grandchildren, Kevin Maloney and wife Michelle, Andrew Maloney and wife Mishal, Matthew Quinn and wife Rachel, and Kristen Quinn and partner Paul Varga. Also surviving are his sisters, Agnes Zaccario, and Catherine Thomson and husband Jim, and in-laws, Frances Cava and husband Tony, and Basil Marraffa and wife Barbara, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members along with his daughter-in-law, Sandy Murray Quinn. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Quinn and John Quinn.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass beginning promptly at 11:00 AM all at the Church of St. Joan of Arc, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton, NJ 08053. Committal Services will the follow at Jesus Bread Of Life Cemetery Mausoleum, 3055 Fostertown Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
In lieu of flowers, Jim's wish was for donations to Archbishop Damiano St. John of God School, 1143 Delsea Drive, Westville, NJ 08093 www.adsschool.org to continue to support the students. Jim was a wonderful generous gentleman. He shared stories of his time in the service and his wife and grandchildren with me. Jim was always there to help with the children in the classroom he loved to help the children do crafts. He would buy the children Christmas gifts he gave them gift cards and every year each child recieved a backpack! Jim volunteered in my classroom in the st John of God building. He will be missed by many. His passing has been a sad event for me. I hope he will continue to watch over our children rest easy Jim. Hugs to your beloved family. Thanks for sharing your beoved husband, grandfather, dad with us. He was a true earth angel. The children adored him. He did st John of gods work and the motto do good. Jim did good! God bless! Jim was a volunteer in my classroom at Archbishop Damiano School (formerly St. John of God Community Services) for many years. He was a big help in the classroom and would buy backpacks and Christmas presents for my students every year. Jim would bring in batteries for the toys that needed them as he would go around the classroom and make sure all the toys were working. He volunteered up until the pandemic and was very upset when we were not accepting volunteers because of it. He will be greatly missed as he would always keep in touch texting or calling throughout the years. Prayers for Terry and family, thinking of you all during this time,
