James Raymond Reagon Sr., fondly known as "Jim," passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 18, 1938, in Blount County, Tennessee, Jim lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by service, family, and a passion for automobiles. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 21 years, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and serving as a veteran of the Vietnam War. A proud retiree of the U.S. Navy, his dedication to his nation was further exemplified through his membership with Amvets, American Legion Post 45, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for over two decades. After retiring from his distinguished military career, Jim worked for Pepsi Cola in Randleman where he made many lifelong friends. He later channeled his love for cars into a successful career in car sales until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed not only selling but also buying and fixing up cars. His passion extended to watching westerns, car shows and NASCAR races, and enjoying breakfast at Pawpaw's Place in North Asheboro. However, his most cherished moments were spent in the company of his beloved family, whom he held close to his heart. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret "Peggy" Reagon, his parents Charlie and Margaret McCammon Reagan, his sister Jerolene Geiger, and his brother-in-law Leonard Hawks. He is survived by his sons, James Reagon Jr. of Panama City, FL, and Steve Reagon of Asheboro; daughters Kristi Staley and her husband Anthony of Franklinville, and Terri Lawrence of Asheboro. Jim also leaves behind his dear sister, Joann Hawks of Kentucky, and his brother Larry Reagan and his wife, Linda, of Illinois. His legacy is carried forward by his grandchildren: Alex Shoup and husband Durand, Zack Beane and wife Vanessa, Regan Lawrence and boyfriend Brandon Sheron, and Sean Lawrence, as well as his great-grandchildren Ally and Christian. He is also remembered by several cherished nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor Jim's life will be conducted at 1PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service chapel, officiated by Mr. Donavon Wright. Following the service, a committal ceremony with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will take place at Randolph Memorial Park.
