With heavy hearts, we remember James Claude Reece (Jimmy), a humble and loving man whose generosity knew no limits. Born July 14th, 1967 to the late Van and Ninny Normie Reece. He is also preceded in death by his brother Douglas "Dougle" Reece and Ed and Alice Alten.
Jimmy and Carla were like two peas in a pod and where you would see one, you would see the other. Always willing to give the shirt off of his back, he was a beacon of kindness and selflessness to all who knew him. A devoted father, he was truly Superman to his sons, sharing countless moments working on trucks together, teaching them not just about engines but about life. His love for fishing brought him peace and joy, often creating treasured memories by the river. He loved to collect knives and flashlights. He was known to his family as "The Keeper of the Flashlights" and he always had the batteries too. Jimmy's legacy is one of warmth, strength, and unwavering love. Jimmy loved helping people in the community and spent his time delivering everything from furniture to medical equipment. He was the type of man that would drop anything to help someone in need. He leaves behind a family and community forever touched by his spirit. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Left to cherish Jimmy's memories are his loving wife of 36 years, Carla Wagner Reece, and their sons Cade Reece (Alex) and Seth Reece (Juliana). Jimmy's pride and joy, his granddaughter Harper Reece aka "Boogie Butt and Nugget". His siblings Johnny Reece and Jane Reece. His sister-in-law Sheila Reece, His in-laws, Gail and Melvin Smathers who treasured him as more of a son than a son-in-law. He also leaves behind several very special nieces and nephews. His grand pups, Phoebe and Zeider, along with numerous family and friends.
A Celebration of Jimmy's life will be held Saturday June 14th, 2025, at 2:00 at Old River Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Ashe officiating.
A very special thanks to the staff at Swannanoa Valley Nursing and Rehab for all their love and support with Jimmy and Carla.
He will be deeply missed by his family, who carry an emptiness that words cannot fill. The love he gave so freely, his quiet wisdom, and his comforting presence will forever remain in their hearts. Though he is no longer with us, his memory continues to be with us everyday.
We love you, Paw!
