James Robert Riffle, age 84, of French Creek, WV passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon, WV. He was born in French Creek, WV on June 13, 1940, a son of the late Robert I and Jessie M. Lang Riffle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Roger W. Riffle, Kenneth E. Riffle and Gerald A. Riffle; one sister Sharon L. Riffle. He is survived by his wife Helga A. Riffle and one daughter Petra Riffle both of French Creek, WV; two brothers: Ralph J. Riffle and wife Roxanne and Thomas E. Riffle and wife Barbara all of Buckhannon, WV; two sisters: Martha Ann Ours and husband Dave of Buckhannon, WV and Helen Jane Simons and husband William of Roanoke, WV; two sisters-in law: Margaret Riffle of North Canton, OH and Judy Riffle of Theodore, AL; seven nieces: Leah Kuipers and family of Rock Cave, WV, Pam Gilbert and family and Lisa Riffle all of Theodore, AL, Candace Riffle of Winfield, WV, Laura Pritt and family of Buckhannon, WV, Jennifer Manning and family of Buckhannon, WV, Ashlea Stafford and family of Jamestown, NC,; two nephews: William Simons and family of Atlantic, IA, and Eric Riffle and family of Big Spring, TX.
James was a veteran of the United States Army, where he retired with twenty-four years of service. He was devoted to his family and was a loving husband and father to his wife and daughter. He was retired from the Upshur County Board of Education. He was a member of the Kanawha Run Church for many years. James will be missed by many. Love and prayers on his next journey.
The family has honored his request for cremation. Private family services will be held at a later date.
