James Robert Ritchie, 70, of Bristol passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was born on April 15, 1954 in Bristol, son of the late James and Frances (Doley) Ritchie. James was the loving husband of the late Marianne (Petriatis) Ritchie for 25 years before her passing in November of 2024.
James Ritchie passed away just shy of his 71st birthday, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, wisdom and craftsmanship. From a young age, James was drawn to the pursuit of knowledge, evident in his passions such as hot air ballooning, boating, practicing martial arts and most recently, handcrafting custom leather holsters as well as serving amongst his community in social and political affairs. With each hobby, a true reflection of his creative soul. James was widely known as a man of unwavering integrity and timeless values. His warmth and sincerity allowed him to connect deeply with others, forming friendships wherever he went. His presence was truly a rare gift to be cherished, which now echoes in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
James is survived by his daughters Sarah Orhani and her husband Ryan of Bristol, Heather Ritchie and her partner Brian Cournoyer of Bristol; and son Zach Ritchie and his partner Ashly of SC; sister Nancy Varkal of Bristol and nephews Peter and Paulie Varkal.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at OBrien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol from 6PM until 8PM.
