On March 12, my Dad, James (Pap) Franklin Roberson Jr., aged 84, joined his wife of 60 years in
heaven. He was born on June 27, 1939, in Pitt County.
A Celebration of Life will be on March 30 at 2:00 at Freedom Baptist Church, 5517 NC-33, Simpson
NC.
He was employed as a Rigger at Voice of America site B until he fell in February 1986 and was
injured. They raised hogs for many years. He enjoyed being a volunteer fireman for Grimesland
Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years; it was a passion he loved. Grimesland community is
where he called home for 60 years. He was also a member of Freedom Baptist church.
He was married for 60 years to Peggy Stancill, she gained her wings on August 13, 2021. He is
preceded in death by his parents James (Jimbo) Franklin Roberson and Manda Moore Roberson;
sisters, Sally Rose Roberson, Neta Jeannette Roberson, Martha Roberson Sutton, Mary Roberson,
Mamie Lee Roberson Cates; brother, John Ivy Roberson.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Roberson Hudson; grandchildren, Michael Raymond Edens
Jr., James Rodman Hudson and Katarina Nicole Hudson all of Grimesland. He also had 3
great-granddaughters whom he called his "babies", Madilynn Paige Cordan, Skylar Michelle Edens
and Emma Rose Hudson. A sister, Margie Ruth Roberson Mobley of Kinston. Many nieces and
nephews. Also lots of friends from Grimesland and Grimesland Volunteer Fire Department.
