In Loving Memory
James Frank Robertson, A Life Remembered and Cherished
May 17, 1938 – December 9, 2025
Born May 17, 1938, to Henry and Inez Robertson, in Rising Star, Texas. James graduated from Grand Prairie High School and married Julia Cowden in 1956. He started his career serving the citizens of Grand Prairie in the Water Department in August 1958 and joined the Fire Department in 1961, where he progressed from firefighter to Chief in 1983. He retired October 1, 1991, with 33 years of service, leaving a legacy of duty and service to not only his two sons, but to his grandsons who followed in his footsteps. In retirement, James loved traveling with his beloved wife, Julia, all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. James was a beloved friend, family member, and cherished member of the community.
He is survived by wife, Julia Robertson; two sons, James Robertson and partner, Kelli Curtain, and Rodney and wife, Kim Robertson; five grandchildren, Lauren and husband, Mason Cooper, Chelsea and husband, Matt Sapit, Shawn and wife, Carrie Robertson, Cody and wife, Brittany Robertson, and Lane and wife, Vanessa Robertson; seven great-grandchildren, Lexi, Seth, Kylie, River, Parker, Reid, and Wyatt; as well as many friends.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, at Bethesda Global Methodist Church, Garner, Texas. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the service starting at 11:00. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Daily Bread at Bethesda Global Methodist Church.
His presence filled our lives with warmth, laughter, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, generosity, and duty will continue to inspire all who knew him.
