James George "Jim" Robinson, 90, of Lutherville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026.

Born on December 16, 1935, in Baltimore, Jim was the son of the late Cecilia Edmiston Wheeler and James George Robinson. He graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in 1960 before proudly serving his country in the United States Army.

Jim dedicated 62 years of his life to the automobile industry. In 1964, he founded Maryland Undercoating, where he processed foreign cars entering the Port of Baltimore. Through entrepreneurial vision, he expanded his business interests in various ports and built a reputation for hard work, determination, and innovation.

In 1979, Jim became involved in the film industry through bridge financing. After selling Subaru Mid America in 1988, he cofounded Morgan Creek Productions. Under his leadership, the company grew to become one of the largest independent film production companies in the world, producing numerous successful and influential films. His passion for storytelling and bold approach to filmmaking and business left a lasting mark on the industry.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Lois Robinson; his sons, Michael Joseph Robinson (Dawn), James Patrick Robinson, Matthew Brian Robinson (Kim), David Christopher Robinson (Susan), and Thomas Vernon West; and his daughter, Elizabeth Robinson deVilliers (David). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Blake Matthew Robinson, Meghan Ann Robinson, Kaitlin Marie Robinson, Aidan Christopher Robinson, Cali Ann deVilliers, Campbell Miller deVilliers, David Cameron Robinson, and David Henry deVilliers IV. He also leaves behind extended family and friends.

Jim will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his generosity to several nonprofits, and his unwavering dedication to his career. His legacy lives on through his loved ones and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
