James Robert Robinson

Swansboro- James Robert Robinson, 91, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Landings of Swansboro. He was born November 20, 1934, in Dillsboro, NC, son of the late John Albert and Mary Nova Harris Robinson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at One Harbor Church in Beaufort, NC.

James faithfully served his country in the United States Army and then began a distinguished career in the manufacturing industry, working in labor relations for Olin Corporation and Dayco Corporation, where he retired as supervisor/manager. In retirement, James pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating the True Value Hardware Store in Huntersville, North Carolina - a place where his love for people truly shone.

James was deeply loved in his community and truly never met a stranger. He had a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all walks of life, and his legendary storytelling brought laughter and joy to everyone around him. Whether behind the counter of his hardware store or gathered with family and friends, James had a way of making every person he met feel welcome and valued. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Bailey (William) of Beaufort, NC and Dr. Wesley Lloyd Robinson (Tara) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Tyler Ray, Andrew Ray (Peyton), Meredith Bailey, Mallory Bailey, Lily Robinson, Parish Robinson, and Adeline Robinson; and sister, Mary Anne Robinson Walker of TN.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Ellen Calloway Robinson.
