Mary Ann Gillette

Swansboro-Mary Ann Gillette, 81 of Swansboro, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Onslow Memorial Park, with Chaplain June Bell-Bruns officiating.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Martin, Sr. and Daisy Bell Powell; her daughter, Rhonda Gillette; her son-in-law, Howard Littleton; her brothers, David Powell, Sr. and Ellis Martin Powell, Jr.; and her sister, Linda Burns.

Mary loved her family and friends more than anything. She never met a stranger and insisted everyone call her "Grandma," just like her own family did. She was happiest when her home was full and was always convinced, she needed to feed everyone who walked through her door. She especially loved cardinals and enjoyed watching the wildlife around her home. William "Phil," her husband, was the absolute love of her life, and the two shared a deep and devoted bond.

She is survived by her loving husband, William "Phil" Gillette; her daughters, Sue Littleton of Swansboro and Donna Phillips and her husband, Kent, of Swansboro; her son, Marty Gillette and his wife, Angela of Swansboro; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
