James "Jim" Edward Rothwell, son of Thomas and Theresa Rothwell, was born on September 17, 1974. He grew up in the town of Mount Pleasant, New York and graduated from Westlake High School in 1992. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies from SUNY Plattsburgh, he moved to Washington state and pursued work in his chosen field for the past 20 years.
Mountaineering, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, split boarding, riding, cycling, and outdoor sports were his passion. Among his many adventures, he climbed Mount McKinley four years ago. His travels took him around the globe including Australia, Japan, Nepal, India, Germany, and eastern Europe, just to name a few.
Jim is survived by two brothers, Francis Rothwell (MaryBeth) of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Thomas Rothwell of Alexandria, Virginia, and two sisters, Elizabeth Keith (Jon) of Winston, Georgia, and Christina Mohl (Robert) of Dobbs Ferry, New York, along with his mother, Theresa, and father, Thomas (Diane).
Jim was a loving caring son, brother, uncle, and friend. His nine nephews will miss him dearly. Jim spread sunshine and laughter at every turn and touched many, many hearts. He died doing what he loved. Our hearts are broken. We love you and will miss you, Jim.
