James Runkel

James Douglas Runkel, 74, passed away on October 11, 2024, in his Muhlenberg Twp. residence.
He was the loving husband of Lois Ann (Yeakel) Runkel. They were married on February 14, 1976.
Born on August 19, 1950, in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Harold D. and Minnie C. (Kline) Runkel.
He was a graduate of West Reading High School in 1968 and attended Luther College.
Jim was employed by Construction Fasteners and SFS Intech, Wyomissing until his retirement in 2019.
Family was everything to Jim. He loved family get-togethers, going to his children and grandchildren's sporting events, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a coach for the MTAA including football, soccer, and baseball; and was a board member of the Muhlenberg Swimming Association. Jim was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, James D., II (Megan), Adamstown, and Daniel (Bobbie Santoro), Muhlenberg Twp. There are four grandchildren: Trip, Parker, Julian, and Dakota; five nieces and seven nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Claude and his wife Irene Runkel.
Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading with burial to follow at Laureldale Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
