James Donald Schaeffer, age 61, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2026. James was born on May 22, 1964.
He is survived by his life partner, Robin Sparks; daughters: Danielle (Keith) Clark, Dawn Rebraca and Mindy Storie; step-daughter, Gabrielle (Tyler) Kennedy; six beloved grandsons: Tristan, Noah, Eli, Koltyn, Easton and Remington; father and best friend, Donald Schaeffer; sisters: Kelly (Russell) Ramsey and Rebecca (William) Toomey; and a host of loving family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Schaeffer; and step-son, Andrew Sparks.
James was a simple, hardworking and humble man who took great pride in his family. He worked for ORBIS Corporation and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals, but his greatest pride was his daughters and grandsons.
James will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio, where the funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm. Contributions may be made in James' memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
