James A. Schmoyer

James A. "Jim" Schmoyer, 82, of Emmaus (previously Zionsville), PA, passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on October 26, 2025. He was born on August 2, 1943, in Allentown, PA, to Albert and Cora (Rau) Schmoyer. Jim graduated from Kutztown University with an education degree and began teaching at Kings Highway Elementary School. A lifelong teacher, Jim's "classroom" eventually moved to an ice cream store. From Carvel, to Flagg's Drive Inn and ultimately to Ice Cream World in Allentown, each season Jim had a new "class" of students as he trained that year's team. Jim owned and operated Ice Cream World for over 30 years. He delighted generations of families with his kindness, dedication, and welcoming smile.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nadine Schmoyer; his children, Eric Schmoyer, wife Anabella, Kimberly Mac Iver, husband Allen, Allyson Nelson, husband Craig, and Jesse Shaffer, wife Erica; six cherished grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He is predeceased by his brother, William.

Jim loved skiing, flying as a private pilot, and was known for his sense of humor and playful jokes that brought laughter to family and friends alike. He will be deeply missed, but his warmth, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

There will be a Celebration of Life for friends and family at 12 noon on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus. A calling hour will be held from 11am-noon Sunday in the funeral home. www.BKRFH.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the American Heart Association for memorial contributions.
