James "Jim" Schulz, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 3rd at his home in Deerfield following a three year battle with cancer. He was born on August 23, 1950, to Robert and Francis Schulz. He was united in marriage to Joyce Gullixson (Wedvick) on December 6, 1975 and they remained in the Deerfield area throughout their married life.
He was employed by the Deerfield Police Department for 18 years. However, he spent the majority of his life in the carpentry field working with several building firms before starting his own business. He loved this type of work often helping friends and relatives with their various projects.

He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting and was a long time member of the Deerfield Rod and Gun Club. He loved watching the Badgers, Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers and especially enjoyed being a member of the Deerfield Home Talent baseball team . He loved the competition of the game and the camaraderie of his teammates.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce, children Jay Gullixson (Lisa) and Andrea Brieby. Grandhildren Hendrix Gullixson, Joe Solem (Katie), TJ and Courtney Brieby, and great grandaughters Hailey and Olivia. He is futher survived by his sister Gayna Gaber, brother Arnie (Darlene) Schulz, sister-in-law Beverly Schulz and brother-in-law Dennis (Mary) Wedvick. He is also survived by some very special nieces and nephews with whom he shared many memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fran Schulz, his brother Dan, his brother- in law Jim Gaber and son-in-law Dan Breiby.

My deepest condolences to the James Schulz family. I only met James a couple of times but my husband John Severson grew up with him in Deerfield and will be attending his Celebration of Life today. I am unable to attend as I have some health issues of my own. Sincerely, Suzanne Severson
