James Raymond Scucchi Sr., 84, of Crossett, AR, passed away October 10, 2025, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little rock, AR, surrounded by family. He was born on July 30, 1941, in Lake village, AR, to his parents, Johnnie Raymond Scucchi and Zelmair Busti. He is the grandson of Italian Immigrants.
James attended school in Lake Village and then joined the Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War and came back to Southeast Arkansas to raise a family. He was a member of the Army National Guard and served in the military for eighteen years.
As an adult, James worked as a milk distributor and later as a plant supervisor in Little Rock. In 1977, James moved to Dermott to become sales supervisor for Triangle Distributing Co. He met and married his wife, Tonilynn Trigg Scucchi. James owned and operated Dermott Barbeque for 20 years.
James supported the school, civics activities, and was an avid Dermott Rams supporter. Besides his work for Dermott, James served on the Chicot County Quorum Court and now serves on the County Equalization Board. In 1990, he was chosen Dermott's Man of the Year by the Dermott Chamber of Commerce. James was also a member of the American Legion. He loved fishing, hunting, and cooking.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randy Scucchi and Tony Scucchi; and six brothers, Billy, Paul, Donnie, Tommy, Lewis, and Bobby; and a grandchild, Kevin Scucchi.
James is survived by his wife, Tonilynn Scucchi; two daughters, Suzette Scucchi and Aleta Scucchi Young; one son, Ray Scucchi (Jennifer); one stepson, Leroy Bo Higginbotham (Patty); two sisters, Martha Scucchi Hayes and Deloris Scucchi Poyner; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 P.M. and Rosary will be held from 6:30-7:00 P.M. on October 15, 2025, at Bishop-King Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held on October 16, 2025, at 10 A.M. at St. Isidore Cemetery under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home, with Father Joe Friend officiating.
