Stanley Martin, affectionately known as "Stan" by his family and friends, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and love. He was 66 years old. Born on February 12, 1959, in Hollandale, Mississippi, to the late Ruthie Mae Martin and Cleotha Byrd, Stan confessed Christ at an early age-a decision that anchored his life in faith, family, and purpose. He lived that faith daily through his service to others and his unwavering belief in the power of community. A 1977 graduate of Greenville High School, Stan went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Army National Guard from 1974 to 1995. During his military career, he served in the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm), where he demonstrated honor, courage, and resilience in the face of adversity. A proud veteran, Stan's sense of duty extended beyond the battlefield-he remained deeply committed to uplifting and empowering those around him. Stan believed strongly in the importance of civic engagement and made it a personal mission to help his people register to vote. He saw it not just as a right, but as a responsibility-one that could shape communities and futures for the better. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ruthie Mae Martin; his uncle, Richard McKinley; his sister Michelle Byrd, his son, Tamarcus Hemphill; and his granddaughter, Jamesha Hemphill. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Patricia C. Martin of Lake Village, Arkansas; three daughters: Keisha (Hilary) David of Mansfield, TX, Queen (Anthony) Jackson of Southaven, MS, and Nikesha Martin of Florence, MS; and one son, Gregory (Victoria) Johnson of Cedar Hill, TX. and twelve grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Marsha (Antonio) Polk of Chicago, IL, Barbara Martin of Saginaw, MI, and Deborah (Michael) Sherrod of Matteson, IL; two brothers, Alvin Mark Martin of Chicago, IL; Cleotha Byrd of Cincinnati, OH and a very special aunt, Diane (Wesley) Springfield of Greenville, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also mourn his passing and celebrate the incredible life he lived. Stanley Martin will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, deep conviction, and boundless heart-a soldier, a son, a father, a husband, a brother, and a friend. His legacy lives on in every life he touched and in every act of service he gave so freely.
