Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC - ColumbiaJames Vernon Sharp, Jr. or “Jim” as he was called by friends, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 74 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Birdie and James Sharp, Sr., his sister, Carolyn Howard, and grandson, James Lee Sharp.
He leaves behind his dear wife, Barbara of forty years, along with two sons, Steven and Dusty and one daughter, Stephanie. There are also eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren along with two fur babies, and his favorite daughter in law, Natoschia.
He was a pest control technician, known as “Bug Man” for over five decades. He was well involved in the community as regional commissioner, coach, and referee of several youth sport programs. He was proud to coach the high school bowling and soccer teams. He was an avid and highly accomplished bowler. He loved and cherished his family. He will be deeply mourned and missed.
A memorial service will be at Thousand Hills Cowboy Church, 1025 Brewer Road, Etheridge, TN 38456, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with the repass to follow. Donations to the American Cancer Society in his memory would be appreciated at The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Flowers can be send to Thousand Hills Cowboy Church.
