James (Jimmy) Paul Shaw, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the age of 58.
Jimmy was Born on February 26, 1967 to Bill and Ann Shaw. He spent his life in service to others, both at home and in the community. After graduating from Fairmount High School he embarked on a career in law enforcement with the Gordon County Sheriff's Office retiring in 2020 after serving with honor and integrity for 28 years. After retiring he returned to law enforcement at the Adairsville Police Department for over 2 years. As a patrol sergeant, he was known for his unwavering commitment to law enforcement.
While his professional accomplishments were many, Jimmy’s greatest joy came from his family. He was the loving husband of Kelly French Shaw for 37 years and the father of Ashley Shaw and Allison Shaw and Rachel Manis but his pride and joy were his 3 grandchildren, Kurston Burns, Isabella Shaw and Patience Carroll. The love and devotion he brought to his family will be profoundly missed. Jimmy was proud to be a child of God and a member of New Town Baptist Church. Jimmy had a generous spirit. His character was defined by loyalty, selflessness, and he was dedicated to his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Billy Eugene Shaw; paternal grandparents, Paul and Rose Shaw; maternal grandparents, James and Doris Hice; and father-in-law, A.W. "Dub" French. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Shaw; his children, Ashley and Allison Shaw and Rachel Manis; his grandchildren, Kurston Burns, Isabella Shaw, and Patience Carroll; his mother Ann Shaw; his siblings, Gene Shaw and his wife Darlene, Denise Mulkey and her husband Andy, Sharon Carpenter and her husband Joe; mother-in-law, Clara Jean French; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Lesley Ratcliff; and brother-in-law Tony French. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be at New Town Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 5 PM until 8 PM and also on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 12 PM until 2 PM at the church.
Funeral Services will be held at New Town Baptist Church on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 2 PM with Pastor Brandon Bishop officiating and Chief Mike Jones speaking. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Kenny Cox, Doug Bramlett, Jamie Davis, Axel Alasono, Dominic Mercado, Harris Housley, Mitch Huggins. Honorary Pallbearers include: Stacy Lemmings, Amelia Burchett and the Adairsville Police Dept, Jerry Davis, Sid Roberts, Greg Plotke, and Captain Jason Kellett. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are asked to assemble at 1:30 PM a the church on Thursday.
