James R. "Jim" Shearer

James R. Shearer, "Jim," 78, of Fannettsburg, PA, passed away in his residence on September 8, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wineman.

Jim was born at home in Concord, on March 4, 1947, a son of the late Campbell R. and Harriet Gertrude (Goshorn) Shearer. He lived his early years in Concord and graduated from Fannett-Metal High School in 1965. Jim was patriotic and was an aircraft engine mechanic stationed on the Corpus Christi Bay Carrier, a floating aircraft maintenance facility, during the Vietnam War. He served in the Army 3 years from 1966 until Honorably Discharged in 1969, and was welcomed at the American Legion.

Jim moved to Fannettsburg after the service and later had a career at Letterkenny Army Depot until retiring.

He is remembered by his family and friends for his artistic and natural creative skills. He was extremely talented in carving with wood and deer antlers. He also had a love for cars and had raced at Path Valley Speedway. He was an avid arrowhead hunter and played guitar.

Surviving with his wife, Barbara, is a brother, Carey W. Shearer (Lois), Fayetteville, and sisters-in-law, Linda Wineman, Shippensburg and Barb Shearer, Exton, PA, several nieces and nephews and good friends, John "Robie" Robinson (Linda) of Fort Loudon and Dawn Good (Barry), of St. Thomas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Best and a brother, Larry Shearer.

The family will receive friends September 20, 2025 after 1:30 PM with a memorial service at 2 PM, Darwin Goshorn officiating, followed by military honors in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run. www.agettlakjer.com
