James Edward Simerley

James Edward Simerley, age 88, of Ringgold, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Previously of East Ridge, Tennessee, James has resided in Ringgold since 1991 and was a member of Omega Harvest Church of God. He had years in the trucking industry as a Teamster. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp before going into business for himself at J & G Maintenance. He loved being with family and friends, watching the Braves play, fishing, and sitting on the porch watching hummingbirds.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henderson Burt Simerley and Lillie Mae Nelson Simerley; daughter, Darlene Phillips; sisters, Sandra Ottie, Vivian Armour; brothers, Frank Simerley, Troy Simerley, and grandson, Christopher Atwood.
James is survived by his loving wife of forty four years, Glenda Thurmond Simerley; children, Rodney Simerley, Michelle (Terry) Pollard, Lori (Troy) Slatton, Billie (Jeff) Clark, Jamie (Jeremy) Parker; son-in-law, Mike Phillips; siblings, Caroline Akins, Mary Ruth Sisk, Linda Akins, Betty McAllister, Alice Wilson, Charles Simerley; grandchildren April, Jarrod, Ashley, Noah, Hillary, Ashton, Maileigh, Mason; as well as many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in the Wilson Funeral Homes Wallis ~ Stewart Chapel with Reverend Mia Pittman and Bishop Charles Pittman Officiating.
