James "Willie" Smith, 82, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 4, 1942 in Osage, Willie was a son of the late James Lee and Betty Jean Smith.
In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his wife Mabel, brothers Danny and Edward Smith, and a sister, Sharon Tennant.
He is survived by his children Jim Smith, Sam Smith (Cindy), and Tammy (David) Galloway; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Linda Flowers and Patty Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Jean Demastes.
Willie worked at Beaumont Glass and Davis & Lynch Glass for many years. He also worked at Francis Engineering. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a loyal WVU Mountaineer Fan! He earned his wings while listening to Country Roads! He worked tirelessly until his recent cancer diagnosis.
In accordance with his request, Willie will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James's name to Amedisys Hospice Foundation, 5006 Mid Atlantic Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508.
