James Snuffer, 73 of Lester, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior June 25, 2025 at home.

Born in Beckley on April 10, 1952, he was the third child to the late Thomas L. Snuffer and Clara Stevens Snuffer.

James graduated from Trap Hill High School in 1970 and then joined the United States Navy where he served his country in the Vietnam Conflict. After serving his time in the military, he returned home and met Janet, the love of his life. It was love at first sight and for 50 years they made their life together. He was a retired coal miner from the Slab Fork Coal Company and Maple Meadow Mining. After retiring from the mines, James worked in construction and realized this was his calling. He was an excellent trim man, and he passed this talent on down to his daughter, Janay. He loved the outdoors, mowing grass, landscaping, and was very meticulous about his lawn. He was a member of the Family Worship Center where he served on the council for many years. He loved working for the Lord. He taught Sunday school, worked with the teens, visited the shut-ins, operated the sound system, portrayed Jesus in the Easter programs, was a greeter and usher and many other numerous activities in his church for the Lord. James was devoted to his family and always put their needs and wants before his. He was an amazing husband, father, and friend. He will continue to live on through every person his kindness touched.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 49 years, Janet Terry Snuffer and daughter, Janay Angela Snuffer. Brothers and sister include Thomas Snuffer and wife Anita of Vass, NC, Robert Snuffer and wife Connie of Cool Ridge, Wesley Snuffer and wife Teresa of Beckley, Doug Snuffer and wife Sue of Newark, OH, Evelyn Chatham of Thomasville, NC, and Kevin Snuffer and wife Molly of Rainelle. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Charla Terry of MacArthur, Greg and Judy Dunbar of Beckley, Sam and June Blaylock of Oak Hill and many numerous nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, July 3, 2025 with Pastor Sam Peterson and Pastor Jason Lowe officiating. Friends are invited to join the family from 1:00 to 3:00pm at Calfee Funeral Home with a service at 3:00pm.
