James H. Sonnon Sr., 78, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Sunday, April 4, at home.
Born Jan. 4, 1943, in Meyerstown, he was a son of the late William Henry and Parma Josephine (Cicero) Sonnon.
He was the widower of Barbara Lee (Dillard) Sonnon.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim is preceded in death by five brothers, Fred, William, George, Sam and Robert Sonnon.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed building model cars.
Jim had been employed as a truck driver for local textiles factories.
He is survived by two daughters, Montene M., wife of Jerry Moyer, of Cressona, and Nicole Minnich, widow of Brian, of Pottsville; two sons, James H. Sonnon Jr., of Minersville, and Michael Sonnon, companion of Elaine Wall, of Pottsville; grandchildren, James Sonnon III, Shain Wagner, Gwendolyn Wagner, Autumn Minnich and Keith Minnich; great-grandson, Blaze Wagner; a sister, Rosemary Daubert, of Saint Clair; his companion of 12 years, Dianne Legutko, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Karen Sonnon, Minersville.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Schuylkill Memorial Park's Chapel, 75 Memorial Drive, Schuylkill Haven. A graveside service will follow the viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montene Moyer, 112 Schuylkill St., Cressona, PA 17929. Donations will be forwarded to Lehigh Valley Cancer Center in Jim's memory.
