Sylvania - Mr. James "Tommy" Sowell, age 53 passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. He was born in Savannah, Ga and lived most of his life in Sylvania, Ga. Tommy was hard working and was employed with Morgan Corp. for the last fourteen years. He worked for many years with Crews & Crews as a heavy equipment operator before joining the Morgan Corp. team. Tommy enjoyed hunting and fishing and was loved by everyone around him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.F. and Joyce Bragg.
Survivors include his children, James Thomas Sowell, Jr. (Maci), Kayden Sowell, and Hunter Mock; two sisters, Kim Doyle (Gary) and Sierra Manning (Jeremy); five brothers, Bobby Sowell (Dara), Eric Sowell (LeAnna), Steve Bragg (Tonya), Wayne Nesmith (Valerie) and Matthew "Coop" Cooper; his father, James Sowell and stepmother Martha Sowell; five grandchildren, Hayden, Colton, Bentley, Drake, and Mylee; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Chris Bragg, Gary Crews, Gary Doyle Jr., Matthew Cooper, Richard Whatley and Wayne Nesmith.
Honorary Pallbearers include Dusty Doyle, Hayden Sowell and The Morgan Corp. Crew
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM, at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
A funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Bay Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylvania.
