James Luther "Jim" Spalding

James "Jim" Luther Spalding, age 84 of Howell, passed away on November 1, 2025. A funeral service will be held 12PM November 6, 2025 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave, Howell, with visitation beginning at 10:30AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation.
Jim was born on January 25, 1941 in Howell, the son of Luther Ernest and Mary Ernestine (Musson) Spalding. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Jim married Barbara Spalding on December 3, 1994. A jack of all trades, Jim had various careers in his life, always searching for something that interested him. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later on, Jim found a new hobby in rigging electronics, always trying to make them better, and he liked model trains. He enjoyed the simple things too; a relaxing car ride was his favorite.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Cory) Byfield and Terri Lynn (Dennis) Cowdry; 6 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Spalding Paquette; sister-in-law, Stonna Spalding; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Spalding; son, Stuart Albright; parents, Luther and Mary Spalding; and brother, Dick Spalding.
