Lawrence "Larry" Edmon Call, age 76 of Howell, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. Born on May 20, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the second son of Benton Row and May Deloris (Knotts) Call.
After graduating from Cooley High School, Larry held a variety of jobs until he was called into the military. Larry served in the Army as a Supply Clerk under the command of US ARCPAC. He was sent to Vietnam in 1970. Larry received an honorable discharge in 1972.
When he returned, Larry continued his 30-year career with Ford Motor Company at the National Parts Depot.
Larry was an active member of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Vietnam Veterans if America, and the UAW.
Larry was captivated by sports. As a kid, his older brother, Ralph, was his coach in baseball and football. Later, he became a season ticket holder to the U of M football games. In addition, he followed the Detroit Tigers, the Pistons, and the Lions.
His hobbies include golf and umpiring at several levels of competitive softball. He also enjoyed maintaining his yard and adding flowers to it. Larry always demonstrated his patriotism by marching in the Memorial Day Parade in Howell for many years and participating in other veterans' activities.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and great-nephew, Angelo Benton Cavagnini.
Larry is survived by his children, Derek Call and Laura Kay Chiesa-Call; his brother, Ralph (Mary) Call; niece, Nancy Cavagnini; great-niece, Julia (Ben) VanderWeide; and friends, Marge Chiesa-Call and Terry Huetter.
A funeral service for Larry will be held 11:30AM Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave, with visitation beginning at 10AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
