James (Jimmy) Harold Stainbrook, 84, passed away on Tuesday February 25, 2025, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin where he resided.
He was born on September 8, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, one of six children to Homer Howard Stainbrook and Cora Clarisa Davis Stainbrook. He attended Franklin Community High School and worked in auto – body repair and as a security guard for Pinkerton Security.
Jimmy married Mavis Imogene (Jeannie) Ball in 1961 and became father to five children. Later in his life, he married Martha Trimpe. They had no children together, but he was a stepfather to her four children. Jeannie Conner survives, and Martha Stainbrook preceded him in death.
Jimmy's birth children are Debra Stainbrook (Jesse) May, Theresa Stainbrook (David) Shelley, Beverly Ann Stainbrook, Richard Stainbrook (Robbie) Lewis, and Chris (Leslie) Stainbrook. All survive except Beverly Ann, Theresa's twin, who passed as an infant.
Jimmy's grandchildren are Jason Andrew Shelley, Joshua David (Rishona) Shelley, Beverly Ann (Isaiah) Johnson, Christian Shelby Stainbrook, Jon Richard May, Jacob Raymond May, and a God grandson Idris Robinson. All survive except Christian Shelby Stainbrook who passed away in 2018.
Jimmy's surviving great - grandchildren are Gabriella Shelley, Brock Shelley, Desmond Johnson, Matthias Johnson, Malachi Johnson, and Miciah Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Cora, and four siblings, Howard, Mildred, George, Donnie Stainbrook, and Kay Siefert. His surviving nieces and nephews are Billy, Deena, Bobby, Keida, Kevin, Kendall, Kenny, Scott, Sean, Tammy, Adam, Matthew, and Stephen.
Jimmy loved the outdoors, fishing, watching Colt's football, and Elvis Presley. He had recently enjoyed vacations in Florida, playing euchre with friends, going camping/hunting in Brown County Forrest, listening to the 14th Dalia Lama live, and had grown fond of Lady Gaga's music. His one big wish in life was to win the lottery, buy a jet plane, hire a pilot, and travel the world. He loved his family dearly and had become more spiritual later in his life.
Services will be 1 P.M. on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland, Indiana with Chaplain Don Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
