Mr. James W. Stewart

Mr. James W. Stewart, 74, of Salem, Alabama, left from the presence of his loving wife and met his Lord and Master as he Stepped Inside the Gate, on Friday, November 18, 2022. "Well done, thy good and faithful Servant."
A Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM EST, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Highway 431 North, Phenix City, AL 36867 with Rev. Ricky Lipp officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Stewart was born in Opelika, Alabama, the son of the late James E. Stewart and Connie Shaw Stewart. In his younger years, James was an architectural draftsman drawing and designing cotton mill equipment for Lummus Industries. During the Vietnam war, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. After completing his service, James returned home and continued serving his Lord through southern gospel music. James was the last founding member of The Seeker's Quartet, a quartet which is still ministering strong for over fifty-three years. His motto was simple: "Once a Seeker, Always a Seeker." Mr. Stewart was known as a caring, thoughtful, and loving person who made everyone feel welcomed and important. He taught others about the love of Jesus Christ and always gave Godly counsel when asked. Above all, James loved his family and enjoyed the time they were able to spend together.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his sister Jean Mitchell.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of forty-eight years Claudia Pacheco Stewart; daughters Leigh Prickett and husband Glenn of Opelika, AL, Lynn Rhodes and husband Jay of Decatur, AL and Nikki Chreene of Columbus, GA; son Lee Stewart and wife Katie of Macon, GA; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
