James K. “Jim” Stewart, 72, of Joy, IL passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Mercer Manor Rehabilitation Center, Aledo, IL.
Jim was born February 15, 1952, in Aledo, IL the son of John W. and Virginia Edith (Pullen) Stewart. He was raised and educated in Keithsburg, IL, attending Keithsburg and Westmer Schools.
Jim enlisted with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Kittyhawk.
Jim married Rhonda Nash in 1969 he later married Cindy Mosher on July 18, 1981, in New Boston, IL and she passed away on February 14, 2023.
Jim worked as an electrician with his father at Stewart’s Electric in Keithsburg. He later was a truck driver, most recently with McLaughlin Freight in Mediapolis, IA.
He was a member of the Keithsburg Christian Church and the Aledo Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed duck hunting, traveling, trucking, playing church league softball, bowling, playing pool and cards. He also loved to spend time with his family. Jim enjoyed the last 8 years traveling in the semi with his companion, Ruger.
Survivors include his four daughters, Kim (Jeff) Blizzard of Moline, IL, Kerrie (Josh) Roller of Keithsburg, Sabrina (TJ) Harrison of Keithsburg, and Nikki (Mike) McIntyre of rural Little York, IL; his eight grandchildren, Kasi (Allen) Henshaw, Kayla DeFrieze, Karley DeFrieze, Kylie Blizzard, Ashley (Chris) Weeks, Zac (Eden) Downey, Shelby (Austin) Rooth and Summer Tharp; ten great grandchildren, Hayes, Anna Rose, Lilly, Kinsley, Cayden, Miya, Ella, Benson, Ada and Wrenley; his brother, Gene Stewart of Keithsburg; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brother, John Stewart.
A Celebration of Life for Jim will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Keithsburg First Christian Church, Keithsburg, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to Keithsburg Fire Department. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
