Larry Summers, age 69 of Lorena, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Moffett officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
James Lowery (Larry) Summers Jr. was born November 22, 1955 to the late James Lowery Summers Sr. and Nellie Mae Moore Summers in Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up and attended school in Waco before enlisting in the United States Army in 1974. He served honorably in Vietnam before his discharge in 1976. Following his military service, he worked as a crew leader for the City of Waco Water Department, and later as an Estimator for H & B Contractors/Kasparian, retiring in 2024. He married Sandra Kay Summers on August 8, 2008, and together, they made their home in Lorena. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed spending time deep sea fishing with his wife, Sandy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Jamie Nell Altamirano.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Sandy Summers; brothers and sisters, Faye Nell Radle, Beverly Williams, and Michael Summers; son in law, Ramon Altamirano; step-children, James Praytor, and Amy Roberts; grandchildren, Gracie Summers, Leila Altamirano, Steffie Praytor, Kelly Praytor, Noami Praytor, Logan Praytor, Lauren Roberts; and great grandchildren, Abel Medrano and Weston Medrano.
