Mr. James "Dale" Sumner, 78, of Temple, GA, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Barclay House in Carrollton, GA.

Dale was born March 12, 1947 in Tifton, Georgia the son of the late Elton Sumner and the late Ruth Regan Sumner. He worked for many years as a Georgia State Patrol Trooper, retiring with 30 years of service to our State. Dale enjoyed spending his time fishing, riding horses when he was younger, repairing old tractors and clocks. He was Baptist by faith. Dale was a humble and caring man who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Dolores Phagan Sumner.

Dale is survived by his son, Jimmy Sumner (Jeanell) of Temple, GA. His brother Don Sumner of Tifton, GA, and sister Sandra Surls of Covington, GA. Grandchildren, Spenser Sumner of Dallas, GA, Emma Sumner of Japan, and Justin and Katelyn Walker of Nashville, TN.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at J. Collins Funeral Home.

Graveside Service will be conducted Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton, GA. The Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers and fold and present the flag.
