James “Jim” Ray Sustar, 78, of Wooster, died October 16, 2024, at his residence.

Jim was born February 15, 1946, in Glendale, CA to James E. and Wanda F. {Lissekam} Sustar.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam Conflict.

Jim married Shirley Lacas on June 17, 1967. 

He was a Pastor for over 50 years in California and Ohio, and the most recent church being Heartland Christian Center. Jim loved people and cared for them deeply in spiritual and practical ways, his top priority was his family, wife, children, grandchildren, congregation, friends and neighbors. For many years Jim enjoyed working out and going for walks, which he would do rain, snow or shine. He was dedicated to a life of prayer and serving.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife; children Jennifer (Japhet) Ntia, Jimmy (Kelly) Sustar, Nathanael (Liz) Sustar, Justin (Rhea) Sustar; grandchildren Zachary, Mila, Ezekiel, Zion, Zoe, Zayanna, Israel, Gabriel, Lily, Davin, River, Ezra, Ahmi, Amina, Indi; great-grandchildren Jaxon, Roman; brothers Terry (Sandy), David and many precious nieces and nephews that he loves with all his heart.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Pamela.

Friends may call November 2, 2024 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Church of the Savior in Wooster. Services will follow (and be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@coswooster9357) with Pastor Jimmy Sustar officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held at a later date. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
