It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of James Lawrence Swanson who departed this life on November 6, 2025. The son of Jean and Richard Swanson, Jim was born October 21, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim completed his degree at Texas Tech University where he forged lifelong friendships as a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Jim embarked on a remarkable career as an entrepreneur, making his mark in life insurance, manufacturing, radio, multiple storage facilities, agriculture business and investment real estate. His commitment and professionalism earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Jim’s love of the outdoors, hunting, camping, and fishing brought him joy and peace. He was a proud Dallas Gun Club member and an avid bird hunter. His love of the mountains took him on many trailrides and he had a passion for watercraft and being on the water. Ever the adventurer, Jim's bucket list was never ending. Most of all, he enjoyed his shenanigans with the guys. Jim was loved and cherished by family, friends, business associates, and all who had the privilege to know him. Jim was loyal, wise, and gave us laughs to cherish forever. How lucky we are to have known him. Jim will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, leadership, and unwavering support for family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Kay, sons Philip Orren Swanson (Jennifer) and Stuart Lawrence Swanson (Ashley). Jim adored his grandchildren Laura Kay, James Lawrence II, and Beverly Brooke. His loving sisters Mary Swanson and Kristin Wade (Hank) will miss his presence greatly. He is also survived by the most beautiful dog in the world, Sable. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Heart Association.
